Fundamentals & Beyond
This course is designed for new shooters and those looking to reinforce and expand their foundation. We begin with core shooting fundamentals—then move into applied, real-world shooting concepts that build skill, confidence, and performance. Whether you’re brand new to firearms or have experience but want to improve your fundamentals, this course will meet you where you are and push you further.

Anyone feeling stuck or inconsistent with their shooting

No tactical experience is required. This course focuses on safety, control, and confidence.
Topics Covered
We start with the basics and evolve into more dynamic shooting concepts. Topics include:
Fundamentals

The Four Universal Firearm Safety Rules

Grip, stance, sight alignment, and sight picture

Trigger control

Recoil management and follow-through

Diagnosing accuracy issues
Beyond the Fundamentals

Presentation from low ready or holster (based on experience)

Enhancing target acquisition

Reload techniques

Introduction to movement and positional shooting

Managing stress and improving consistency
You’ll leave the course with a clear understanding of where your strengths are—and where to focus your training.
Gear Requirements
Required:

A reliable semi-automatic handgun or revolver
-
150–200 rounds of factory ammunition

Eye and ear protection
-
Strong-side belt-mounted holster (if practicing from holster, optional for new shooters)

Minimum of 2 magazines or speed loaders
-
A rigid belt or duty belt (if practicing from holster, optional for new shooters)

Comfortable range-appropriate clothing
-
Water, snacks, and sunscreen (for outdoor classes)
Optional:

Knee pads for positional shooting

Magazine pouch
-
Notepad and pen for taking notes
If you don’t have all the gear, we may be able to provide loaner equipment—just let us know in advance.
